Hi all,
I found out there's lot of complaint when come to download and install
Eclipse platform. as well as others plugin.
Eclipse Platform :-
There's no one download link for Eclipse runtime, I mean those without
SDK parts. That will make the download size smaller for non-Java or
Eclipse developers.
Nice if package with installer as well.
Eclipse Plugin :-
Nice if plugin able to install/uninstall thru Eclipse it selft rather
than
you unzip it yourselve. The online install good if your internet line fast
enough or else you have to download it again if line drop....
Am I miss anythings ? Sorry if I miss somethings...
Thanks

If you click the Other Downloads on the main download page, you can
choose to get the Platform Runtime Binary, which just includes the
Eclipse base platform - without JDT, PDE or any source code.
Personally, I find the lack of an installer quite refreshing. On any
platform all I have to do is unzip and run. To uninstall all you have
to do is remove the directory. No hassle. Just my personal opinion.
Hope this helps,
- Jeff

Hi,
Thanks for your repply. I very appreciate that! :-)
Anyway... lets look at what students/developers/teachers said about
Eclipse :-
http://www.netbeans.org/switch/realstories.html
Probably Eclipse teams can follow what Oracle did on JDeveloper.
Create a few link like :-
-Eclipse for SE ( VE + BIRT included )
-Eclipse for EE ( WTP + VE + BIRT included ) (I might miss others plugin
:-P)
For those advance user, they still able to download what ever they want
from those web site :-)
What do you think ?
Sometime it is not about features but is about how user friendly it is...
That is why .NET Express pickup so fast... easy...
This is what coperate/software company want... out of the box, everythings
is there, easy...
frankly speaking... Eclipse VE still too young... unless WindowsBuilder
contribute their Swing Builder out... hahaha sorry sorry~ just kidding~ :-P
Anyway! SwingBuilder best of the best! but... once come to the price...
most company will rather pick JD, NB or .NET Express :-(
just my 2 cents comments...
