Hello,

i'm new to eclipse. We have eclipse 3.2 running on a SuSE 10.2 linux
system. I installed the packages via rpm/yast. Then we tried to install
some plugins.
First we used a normal useraccount. This ends up with errors. Then we
installed some plugins as root. This installation suceed. But when i look
as a user in Help ==> Software Updates ==> Manage Configuration ==> View
Installation History,
i don't see the plugins which i installed as root.
Whem i look as root in "View Installation History", i see of course the
plugins.
Questions: Are the plugins which i installed as root usable for all other
users ?
If not, how can i install plugins as a normal user with root rights ?

Thanks in advance.

If you have problem with SuSE's packages, then you should consult with
the SuSE packaging team as I'd imagine they've packaged it in some way
wherein it's intended to be usable in some sort of a multi-user setup.

I'd suggest getting the Eclipse binary from eclipse.org personally.

In any case, this document may help.

And I'd suggest getting an up to date version of Eclipse. 3.2 is two and a
half years old, we're up to 3.4.2 now.
