link to file in the filesystem does not create softlink? [message #256723] Mon, 19 May 2008 15:46 Go to next message

Hi,

I always thought, that creating a "link to a file in the filesystem" creates a
symbolic filesystem link in the workspace folder. But this isn't the case.
It seems that a plugin that I need can't find such linked files.

Can I "cheat" on eclipse by manually creating "physical" symbolic links in the
workspace?

Felix

Felix,

The links Eclipse uses work on all OSes, even ones that don't support
symbolic links in their file system. I think creating symbolic links in
the underlying file system will be respected...

Actually not a bad strategy.

Yes it seems to work.

Felix.
