I've just upgraded my system to openSUSE 10.3 x86_64, downloaded and
installed jdk 1.6 (jdk-6u3-linux-amd64-rpm.bin), downloaded and unzipped
eclipse, (eclipse-java-europa-fall-linux-gtk.tar.gz).

When I run eclipse I get the message:

JVM terminated. Exit code=13
/usr/bin/java
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar
/usr/local/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0. 1.R33x_v20070828.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86
-showsplash
-launcher /usr/local/eclipse/eclipse
-name Eclipse
--launcher.library
/usr/local/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk. linux.x86_1.0.1.R33x_v20070828/eclipse_1020.so
-startup
/usr/local/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0. 1.R33x_v20070828.jar
-exitdata f80005
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
-Xms40m
-Xmx256m
-jar
/usr/local/eclipse/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0. 1.R33x_v20070828.jar

When I look in ~/workspace/.metadata/.log there is a message:
!ENTRY org.eclipse.osgi 4 0 2007-10-09 14:29:41.800
!MESSAGE Application error
!STACK 1
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no swt-gtk-3346 or swt-gtk in
swt.library.path, java.library.path or the jar file

...

I tried looking for a 64 bit version of eclipse 3.3, but couldn't find any.

Any suggestions?

(I have previously been using eclipse 3.2 on openSUSE 10.2 on this machine
without problems).

Regards
Gordon

I managed to find the 64 bit version using a different browser.

The download site appears to be a bit broken. In some browser
configurations (konqueror 3.5.7, javascript disabled, cookies disabled,
autoload images off) it doesn't correctly determine the target platform
(thought I was 32 bit linux) and doesn't provide any links to where you
can get to a 64 bit version.

Using firefox 2.0.0.6 (with javascript, cookies and images) it was able to
determine I was running linux_64 and also gave a link to
http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.3.1- 200709211145/index.php
where I could find a 64 bit version.

Why doesn't this link appear on the download page in all cases?

Especially useful if you want to download for a machine other than the one
you are on.

Gordon
