CDT 4.0 - Cannot Import as source project [message #197747]

Hi All,

I have Eclipse 3.3 and CDT 4.0 installed on my machine. When I import any
CDT plugin as source project in my workspace I get the jar file and not
the source code.
I checked the source code locations in the Target platform preferences and
I found that there is no source code location entry for CDT.
How should I go for it? Thanks in advance.

Do you have the CDT SDK or just the runtime?
I think you need the whole CDT SDK to import it into your workspace

I've got the same problem. It seems that the SDK is not properly packed. I
was asking the same question on the cdt-dev list a few weeks ago but have
not gotten any answers yet.

Hi Beth,

I have CDT SDK in my eclipse. I have extracted cdt-master from
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/releases/europa website.

Hi,

What further I seen on my workspace is that whenever I try to use any
extension points it is not able to connect to the schema of the same. For
example if I use org.eclipse.cdt.managedbuilder.core.buildDefinitions
extension, I can add Generic parameters to the extension and not the
proper ones specified as in the schema of the same.
I have checked the schema files and they are present in the proper
plug-ins.
Can anybody let me know what I did wrong or is it a bug?

Sounds like you all have run into a problem with the update site. I'd
suggest filing a bug. In the meantime you can try downloading the .zip
from the CDT build site, however I worry that it will suffer from the
same issue. As a fallback you can check the source out of CVS anonymously.

Thanks Chris.
It is behaving same for both update manager as well as the zip file. I
will file a bugzilla for the same.
I will also try downloading it from CVS.
