is there a way to add features to a model object (eg., Expression) that are *not* specified in grammar.... while i understand that a singleton cache could be used to hold these features (eg., type or evaluated value), it just feels more natural to have these features associated with the model object itself -- albeit these are set in some validation after parsing has finished....

the requirements you describe are very vague, but you can use IDerivedStateCOmputer http://xtextcasts.org/episodes/18-model-optimization to add/modify stuff in the AST
