Generating an Eclipse install from a Maven 2 project [message #1752]

Currently it is possible to generate an Eclipse workspace (including
WTP) from a Maven 2 project. I wonder if with the help of this project,
it could be made possible for a Maven plugin to actually compose a full
Eclipse installation from a maven project / archetype?

I'm sure that maven plugin itself is out of scope, but would this
project produce something that could enable that plugin? Most likely
something more would be needed for that?

Imagine if setting up and running a full developement environment for a
complex project from scratch would consist of running the following
commands:

>cvs checkout project
>cd project
>mvn -Declipse.install.area=/eclipse eclipse:install
>/eclipse/eclipse
