Hi Eike,
if i would get that far i would not be typing here :) You are right ... the options (after getting the installer to start) are well fitting!
The "magic" that tries to find a jvm/jre happens when i try to run the eclipse-installer-win32/64.exe ... i would like to be able to set the jre/jvm to use on this one.
TIA
Daniel
//edit: i would like to add some info about my setup. It is kind of a special snowflake: I do not _install_ the "official" precompiled jdk/jre installer executables. Instead of that i extracted it via some batch-file to a folder of my liking. After that i added the required binaries to my path and created the obligatory JAVA_HOME env-var pointing to the correct folder. Running this setup i did not experience any troubles with other java-based tools so far.
This is kind of a "full disclosure" info ... to inform you about some maybe-no-available info's the installer is trying to use to figure out which java to run itself with. It propably would work fine if i would run the official installer which inserts various registry keys and stuff. But if it is possible i would like to run without that.
If i may, i also would like to suggest that there is a popup which shows me where you want to point my browser at (URL/YES/NO) to resolve this Problem (instead of directly shoving me over to the page) ... but this is not as important as getting the installer to run.

There's no command line option but with the folder icons right to
the VM combos in both the simple and advanced installer you can open
the JVM Management dialog:<br>
<br>
[link censored because < 5 msg reasons] <br>
The Search... button let's you point to a specific JRE directoy on
your disk, which whill be added to the User list of VMs. This list
is stored under your user home directory and be used by our
installer and all installed IDEs.<br>
<br>
Isn't that convenient enough?<br>
<br>
Cheers<br>
