I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience using CDT with
Eclipse, especially on Linux, and has attempted/succeeded in using the two
to maintain a large project (15,000 C/C++ source code files).

First: has anyone attempted this?
Second: was the attempt successful?
Third: were there any difficulties debugging the project?
Fourth: any tips you'd like to share?

Thanks in advance to one/all who replies.

Hi. I don't have direct experience with this, but I did see the CDT WIKI
as a presentation with some information here:

http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/CDT/summit2005

The presentation is called: "CDT Quality Report Card - Where are we with
respect to performance and scalability."

The second to last slide says:

From Norbert Ploett, regarding projects with 3.5K to 5K source files: “If
it (the indexer) does not crash it takes about 1-2 hours to build it's
index every time eclipse is started (I know that this issue will be
addressed by persisting indexer results).”

See ya,

Ken
