Somebody wrote a very basic formatter using indent which is part of linux
and cygwin too. If I remember right that was announced in this group. Take a
look back. Otherwise try to google [eclipse plugin indend] or similar for
example.

Does this work? I've read that CDT 3.0 is required for use with eclipse 3.1.
That's also my configuration.

In my guessing, If you using lower version than java 5.0, That strange
message will be appear. (SI doesn't use osgi platform, so that error
message is somehow strange)
Anyway, That problem is now fixed with SI 1.0.6. (Compability patch for
java 1.2, 1.3, 1.4)
SI2.0 will be announced here within 1 month. It has own parser,
Indentation Model, Source Printer. Ant It supports All C/C++ spec and
Coding rule in Pure java)
