Exception displaying reports with charts [message #150486] Mon, 03 April 2006 22:03 Go to next message

I have deployed the latest BIRT runtime engine to a tomcat 5.5 environment
that is running the compatability package so it works with jre 1.4
In this environment, text-only reports work just fine but when I try to
display a report with a chart (via the frameset viewer) I get the
following message:

Exception in:
soapenv:Server:userException

java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

I know that is a generic error and I'm sorry, but it is all I can get!
Does anybody have any suggestions on what could be the problem? These
reports work fine locally on my windows development machine (tomcat 5.5
and jre 1.4) and on a test server with jre 1.5, but we cannot use jre 1.5
for our production release.

I managed to answer my own question, in case anybody else runs into the
same problem. Turns out the server I was deploying to was actually
running tomcat 5, which is specifically unsupported by BIRT. Once we
upgraded to tomcat 5.5, all is well.

What operating system are you running tomcat on? You can also look in the
ReportEngine log for more info on the actual error.
