Hi all,

Is there a plugin or a tool that would compute and display various
source/java statistics such as number of files, lines, packages, classes,
methods etc. for a project or for all projects in a workspace?

Yes, several. Do a search for "metrics" at
http://www.eclipse-plugins.info/eclipse/search.jsp
