CDT Successfully installed, but UI not visible [message #1445557]

I have a fresh installation of Eclipse Luna. I installed the CDT package in the usual manner, and the installation completed successfully (as far as I could tell). However, the following DCT features are not visible in the UI:

- C/C++ options in the make new project wizard
- C/C++ section in the eclipse properties
- C/C++ perspective

I have tried both starting fresh and reinstalling the CDT, with no success. I have also tried completely uninstalling Eclipse by removing the application bundle, the .eclipse_keyring and the library cache.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I can resolve this issue? Thanks.

I believe that CDT needs Java 1.7 and fails without any warnings on
other (lower) versions...
