Hi all,

Actually, i have a final product folder with .exe file to launch the
application.
Can i test this application using Automated GUI recorder?

Its like, i want to provide the path of this .exe file and then launch it
in eclipse environment and then record and playback using AGR.

Again in eclipse IDE, i want to launch the application using Run->Run
configuration and then want to record and playback using AGR. can i do
this?

Thanks in advance

Regards
Gopal

Hi Gopal,
Yes, this will work as long as the target application is an Eclipse
application. Note, the AGR does not support stand-alone Java and Eclipse
RCP applications. When recording, ensure the AGR is installed in the
Eclipse instance launching the target application.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for ur reply.

I have a some doubts.

1)Can u please explain little bit more about, how can we test external
eclipse
application using AGR?

2)Can u please explore ur point saying When recording, ensure the AGR is
installed in the Eclipse instance launching the target application?

Regards
Gopal

Hey Paul,

You said target application should be an Eclipse
application.

Does it means that target application must be developed in eclipse IDE
environment?

Dear Sir,

Thanks for ur last reply.

I downloaded TPTP all-in-one Package. Then downloaded AGR and installed in
the TPTP all-in-one Package.

I have an eclipse application that I want to test in the downloaded TPTP
all-in-one Package

I have some doubts.

1)Can u please explain little bit more about, how can I test external
eclipse
application using AGR?

a) How can I specify the path of the external eclipse application?

b) Can u please explore ur point saying When recording, ensure the AGR is
installed in the Eclipse instance launching the target application?

c) Any other setting that I need to test the external eclipse application
in TPTP all-in-one Package.

Or

2) Does it like that, I need to install TPTP in my eclipse application and
then need to install AGR in my application? (Then only I able to test my
eclipse application using AGR)

Regards
Gopal

Hi Gopal,
You can use the AGR to record and playback tests in an external Eclipse
applcaition assuming the AGR and its dependencies are installed in the
external Eclipse applcaition. For more information, see:

http://www.eclipse.org/tptp/test/documents/gettingstarted/Au tomated_GUI_Recorder_Getting_Started.html#2.0

Note, in TPTP 4.5, the AGR was moved from a Technology Preview component to
an As-Is component. As-Is components are primarily provided for prior users
but imply no support (for example, defects, news group, and mailing lists).

Hi Rahul ,
Yes. The target application must be an Eclipse application. That is, an
IDE environment, as opposed to an Eclipse RCP or stand-alone SWT
application. For more information, see:

an As-Is component. As-Is components are primarily provided for prior users
but imply no support (for example, defects, news group, and mailing lists).

Hi Gopal,
Yes. You need to install TPTP/AGR and its dependencies (e.g. EMF/XSD) in
the
external Eclipse application before recording/playback. For more
information, see:

Note, in TPTP 4.5, the AGR was moved from a Technology Preview component to
