Selective default of a Quick Diff provider [message #141942] Thu, 09 October 2003 17:46 Go to next message

I've written a quick diff provider for my clearcase (team) plugin.
Everything works fine, except it is annoying to have to right click in
the ruler for every file I open.

I tried setting my provider as the default in
Window->Preferences->workbench->Editors->Quick Diff, but that didn't
seem to have any effect (eclipse 3.0 build 200309250800)

It would be nice if I could somehow selectively set my provider as the
default for files of certain type so that I could still use the version
on disk provider when it is a better fit.

Is there any way to do this? Thanks,

Matt

Thats the correct setting, but only for the Text editor... the Java
Editor still has its own preferences (I know...), for the quick diff
provider see Java->Work in Progress

Ah, ok, I see - that did the trick.
I still have to do this for other non-java/non-text editors (e.g. ant
editor), but the frequency has been greatly dimished =)

Wouldn't the following enhancement request do it for you:

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=37162

(But it is in jdt/ui and maybe it should be solved not only
for the issue described in it. Maybe you can comment on it)

Cheers

That bug seems to be related to Quick Fix, not Quick Diff - did you mean
to point to a different one?
