Given the inclusion of LPEX, it seems like an easy thing to do :)

Clare,
There clearly is value in providing this type of capability in the Eclipse
environment. IBM understands this, but has not announced anything in this
arena yet.

Hi,

I have a few years ago developped an COBOL ANSI 74 to C++. Now I have
nearly finished a plugin for CORBA-IDL for Eclipse to generate
JAVA-Wrapper-Code. I also think now to reenginering my COBOL to C++
to plugin for Eclipse for COBOL to JAVA.

You may get more answers if you ask in the eclipse.tools news group.

This one (eclipse.tools.cdt, where CDT="C Development Toolkit" or
something similar) is supposedly dedicated to the plugins for developing
C / C++ using Eclipse.

Don't know if that's already well-known to you, but you may be
interested in the "COBOL for GCC" project. They (FSF) are implementing
a COBOL 85 frontend for gcc. Visit them at:

http://cobolforgcc.sourceforge.net/

They also have some links to other freely available COBOL projects.

Clare,

This is not an official answer but it's been mentioned in the past that IBM
is working on various (commercial) enterprise tooling solutions based on
eclipse/websphere studio workbench. I would expect that COBOL would
certainly be an integral part of some of those solutions as will various
other VisualAge flavors. After all, (I may be letting you in on a secret
;-) one of the historic reasons why IBM embarked on developing the common
platform (Eclipse) was to minimize the code duplication that existed across
its tooling (i.e. the VisualAge line of products among others).

As nothing had been announced yet, plans are subject to change.

Hi,

I hunted around on legacyj.com and couldn't find any mention of a plug-in for Eclipse. Which product in particular
would I look for?

Thanks...

Jeff.

The product is called PERCobol, which uses eclipse as the IDE.
