CVS Add Directory Problem [message #116699] Thu, 13 November 2003 21:43 Go to next message

Hi All,

I am having a problem with either the CVS plugin or with CVS itself.

Here's the setup:

I have two users UA and UB.
I have two repositories RA and RB.

The users have the same version of eclipse and the same os.

The repositories are on two different machines. Both machines have the
same version of Linux, have the same version of CVS, have the same project
imported. File and permissions are also the same.

Here's the problem:

If UA adds a directory and a file within it to RA, then UB runs
Team/Synchronize against RA everything works. That is, Team>Synchronize
shows that the directory and file have been added. UB can then run an
update and life is good.

Do the same thing with RB. That is, UA adds and UB synchs and
Team>Synchronize shows the message that the workspace and the repository
are in synch. They of course are not in synch. Running update -d from the
command line will bring them into synch.

I'll summarize:

With RA, UA adds, UB synchs, and Team>Synchronize shows a difference.
With RB, UA adds, UB synchs, and Team>Synchronize shows NO difference.

Can anyone account for this difference in behavior between RA and RB?

It is as if eclipse is setting the update -d flag is when using RA but not
setting it when using RB.

Thanks

Can you provide more versions info about CVS/Eclipse platform?

Versions are

Linux: 2.4.7-10 (kernel)
CVS: 1.11.1p1
eclipse: 2.12

Another bit of information that may matter is that RA has entries in
CVSROOT/modules and RB does not.

Thanks for responding.
