Marc & Ajeya,
There are two answers to the "XML as a data source" question. Marc is right
that there is no "out of the box" (out of the zip file?) solution where you
can use drag & drop & UI to access XML. But, as Marc points out BIRT is open
and you can access XML via code.
There are two ways to access XML. First, you can write an ODA (Open Data
Access) plugin. Such a solution would be general purpose, and might provide
the drag & drop solution. (Any volunteers?)
Another solution is the "scripted data source" which will be in Release 1.
Using your favorite XML parser, build up a result set in Java or JavaScript.
I hope to have an example of this on the web site that shows how to access
XML using a scripted data source.
What sort of XML do you want to access? A file? A data source such as SOAP?
What Java XML tools do you use?
Thanks,
