Install plugin locally? [message #27702] Tue, 06 May 2003 12:22 Go to next message

Hi,

I am relatively new to Eclipse and ran in a slight problem today: I want
to connect to a cvs-server via ssh (protocol version 2). At home I
installed the cvsssh2 plugin and it worked great, but at university
cvsssh2 is not installed.

I discovered, that in my workarea ther is a .metadata/.plugins folder so
I copied the plugin there to try to "install" it locally, but it does
not seem to be loaded. Is it not possible, to install plugins locally
(i.e. for a single user in a multi-user os)? Or have I done anything wrong?

Help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Christian

It may not be possible... It depends on how your school network is set up.
All plug-in files are located in the ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins/ directory. The
directory you found is part of the workspace, and contains custom
information that saves your workbench state (such as plug-in preference
settings). The actual plug-in files can't go here.

If it is possible with your network, you'll have to copy the cvsssh2
plug-in into the ECLIPSE_HOME/plugins/ directory on your school computer.

Thanks for the answer,

I am afraid it is not possible for me to install these files. It is a
UNIX system and I do not belong to the admin group. But I asked our sys
admin if he can install the plugin. Maybe he is so kind ;-)

Although it would be cool if it was possible to integrate plugins that
reside in the user-dir.

Thanks anyways.
