I have downloaded the java developer version of eclipse for windows Vista64.

Are you using the 64-bit version of the JDK and of Eclipse? They must
match; if you don't have both 64-bit, try running the 32-bit Java +
Eclipse. Could also try java.exe instead of javaw.exe.
