I have downloaded the java developer version of eclipse for windows Vista64.
I have then made a shortcut on the desktop and changed the target to:

C:\eclipse\eclipse.exe -vm "C:\Program
Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11\bin\javaw.exe" -vmargs -Xmx512M

but nothing happens when I double click the short-cut, I don't even get an
error message. I have tried to add:

c:\eclipse

and

C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_11\bin

To my path variable but it does not help, what is wrong?

Are you using the 64-bit version of the JDK and of Eclipse? They must
match; if you don't have both 64-bit, try running the 32-bit Java +
Eclipse. Could also try java.exe instead of javaw.exe.
