Setting up Eclipse for both CDT and JEE [message #256905] Wed, 21 May 2008 15:50 Go to next message

I typically use the CDT, but I need to use the JDT occasionally. Is
there an easy set up both on the same Eclipse intstallation.
I have tried downloading only the JDT, then pointing the update manager
at the CDT update site, i.e.
download.eclipse.org/tools/cdt/releases/ganymede (I use Ganymede M7).
All that happens is there is a long list of unresolvable dependencies.

Start with an EPP bundle (whichever is bigger) then update from
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/ or
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/staging/ to add the other
stuff.

You could also have two different Eclipses sharing a workspace or two,
if you prefer to have C and Java dev entirely separate. In that case,
download both EPP bundles (http://www.eclipse.org/epp/), unpack them,
and run them separately. They can share a workspace, but only one can
use it at a time. (The workaround there, FWIW, is to have one workspace
contain your projects and another contain imported projects (really,
just links) from the first workspace.
