Does the xml plug-in (xmlbuddy) work in Eclipse 3.3 version? [message #250504] Fri, 29 February 2008 15:59 Go to next message

Hi,

I installed xmlbuddy plugin(http://www.xmlbuddy.com/). Restart Eclipse,
I don't see anything new. Because its homepage only says support Eclipse
3.1, I am wondering it may not support Eclipse 3.3.

However, on the Eclipse plug-ins home page, this plug-in is rated as the
best. There are many, many good comments about this plug-in. I can't
believe those developers are using Eclipse 3.1, so I downloaded it and
tried it.

Do you know any other good and current xml plug-in?

Thank you.

Did you run eclipse.exe -clean? You could try -clean -debug and look at
the Error Log view to see if the xml buddy plugins are resolving
correctly...

http://www.xmlbuddy.com/ has a Contact Us page - I suggest you ask them
if they support 3.3. I happen to know the author of that plugin and I'm
pretty sure he stopped work on it when the WTP XML editor became
available.
The Eclipse WebTools Project includes an XML editor; if you get the
"Eclipse IDE for Java Developers" package from eclipse.org, the XML
editor is included.
Here is the WTP project home page: http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/
You might want to ask on the eclipse.webtools newsgroup if there are
simple instructions for installing just the XML editor.

Hope this helps,
Eric
