Are you certain that you aren't running Eclipse with gcj? On many Linux
systems gcj is the default JVM but there have been numerous problems
reported with that configuration. See this bug report:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=191254
If that does turn out to be the problem, please post back here and/or
add a comment to that bug report.

Were you able to resolve the problem by forcing Eclipse to use the Sun
JDK/JRE?
