I'm currently using Eclipse's Install/Update manager to deliver my
feature, which contains 6 plugins (including a branding plugin), and is
marked as 'primary'. I am using a custom install handler to drop in a new
eclipseproduct file and a new config.ini file. After the initial
download/install, I am prompted to restart the workbench, and when I do I
get my splash screen, as well as the proper title at the top of the
eclipse window. Also, when I go to Help->About, I can see my feature
details and plugin details. In other words, everything seems to be
working properly.
When I restart the workbench the second time, however, the feature/plugin
details are lost. I still get the splash screen, but when I go to
Help->About->Feature/Plugin details, my feature and plugins show up with a
blank Provider and Plug-in Name (the version and Plug-in Id are still
there).
This is also causing the Product Configuration manager to bomb since it
apparently doesn't have the proper labels for the tree view it's creating.
As far as I can tell, all of my xml markup is properly configured. Does
anyone know of a good starting place to track this down? I'm using M8
eclipse.
Thanks,
Ryan

Outside of the problem you are having with it not working. You should
really consider not using an install handler in that manner.
You have created an eclipse product virus. A feature that comes down
into someone else's branded workbench and takes it over removing the
original branding.
If you want to brand an eclipse instance as your own you should ship
your branded version of it. Not override someone elses.

If your primary plugin id is different that the feature id, you see this
behavior. Pick up the M9 driver, it should have a fix for this.
