How do I make a commitment? [message #21585] Sun, 09 May 2004 21:33 Go to next message

I would like to make a commitment to the WTP project and according to the
WTP Project Wiki
( http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-webtools/Wikiaed0.h tml) this is
done using Bugzilla.

Maybe I'm a little dense but perhaps someone could explain, in slightly
more detail, how this is done.

I have logged a number of bugs previously on Bugzilla and am not
unfamiliar with it. However, when I came to logging a commitment to WTP I
am at a slight loss:

1. Do we select 'Enter a feature request' from the Bugzilla page
(http://www.eclipse.org/projects/index.html)?

2. What product/project do we select from the next page, there is no WTP
product/project?

3. What version and component do we select if we pick and arbitrary
product/project in Bugzilla?

Maybe it's just me but you seem to be making it less than easy to actually
make a commitment to this project. I suggest you provide slightly more
informative instructions on how to make a commitment, otherwise you will
not be getting any. Is this what you want? I certainly don't see any signs
of any commitments in your weekly review of the proposal.

In fact I searched the Bugzilla using keywords 'WTP' and 'webtools' and
had no hits on commitments at all!

Joss Wright

I apologize for the confusion. The issue is that WTP is still a Proposal and
thus is not yet an official Project. The distinction is that a Project has
an Eclipse.org bugzilla whereas a Proposal does not yet have that resource
allocated. When the Board approves the Proposal as a Project, the
appropriate bugzilla form will be available.

I would love to be able to report more commitments in the weekly summary
however I, as the Proposal Shepherd, am only a report and am not able to
make that happen. I hope that the proposal leaders will answer your query
about how to contribute in more detail.
