application with static library segfaults [message #216046]

I have 4 managed make projects: an executable and 3 static libraries.
Everything builds fine and when I run the application from the run dialog
within eclipse everything works ok. However, when I try to run the same
application from a terminal the program segfaults. Could somebody help me
figure out why the two executables are behaving differently?

I'm using Eclipse 3.3.2 Build id: M20080221-1800

not sure about the exact CDT version but I think it's 4.0.0

Running on Ubuntu linux 8.04 with gcc 4.2.3
