Hi

This sounds a bit like the issue I ran into a few month ago... could be
a multi-user issue - as normally things are installed as root, but run
as some user on Linux .

Details about multi-user installs can be found in:

http://help.eclipse.org/help32/index.jsp?topic=/org.eclipse. platform.doc.isv/reference/misc/multi_user_installs.html

The most important point (that once cost me a lot of time): unzip and
make _everything_ read only before you launch Eclipse for the first
time.

HTH,

Michael
