Localization problem [message #203997] Thu, 30 November 2006 07:26 Go to next message

Hi,

In my report I had localized the labels to French, English, Japanese and
Chinese languages by having the respective resource files and their
resource keys, placed beside the report. I ran the report (deployed BIRT
onto WAS 6.0.x) by setting ULocale to the appropriate locale string. I am
able to generate reports with localized strings for French and English
languages. But the whole problem is with Japanese and Chinese languages.
BIRT while reading the resource files is using Windows default encoding
but not UTF-8 encoding, so the localized strings are not shown in UTF-8
encoding, and some un-recognizable text is shown in the generated report.

Used this link to an extent for localization.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,

I've got the same problem.
Localization works for _en / _en_GB / en_US / fr.
I created an UTF-8 resource file, the report is also encoded in UTF8, under eclipse the property file is well displayed,
but when preview or running it doesn't work and displays "some un-recognizable text".

Any ideas ?
