Hello,
I'm fairly new to Macs. I've downloaded and started Eclipse 3.3M5. When
I try to run it on my mac, I get a dialog box that says:
"Could not launch the application because it requires a version of Java
that is not installed."
It further says, "This application requires Java A, but only the
following Java versions are installed: 1.6.0, 1.5.0, 1.4.2, 1.5, 1.4,
1.6. Updating to a newer version of Mac OS X may resolve this."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finally I found an answer. You have to edit
eclipse.app/Contents/Info.plist and add
or uncomment a valid jdk home in section
<key>Eclipse</key>
<array>
...
