Please help me before i become insane!!
I've been using eclipse since 1.0 through 3.0 M4 with all the releases of
Sun jvm since 1.3.0 through 1.4.2 under win2k with no problem at all.
Then our group changed machines with 3.06 GHz Hyperthreading Genuine Intel
cpu and Win XP Pro SP1 and here the nightmare begins...
Let's start with 2.1.2. I still use 2.1.2 to manage some legacy C projects
for which i need the FTP/Webdav plugin that's no more reliably working
with 3.0 and while using editors i have a foul behaviour.
With jvm 1.4.1_05 when i use the ctrl-c in text editor, C editor or
BlackSun Make editor it appears a box in the bottom bar that says "CTRL-C"
and if i use ctrl-v the box disappears but the paste is not done. If i
press ctrl-c twice, on the first the box appears, on the second the box
disappears and if i press ctrl-v the paste is now done.
The real problem is that after a while i'm working, it may span few
minutes to several hours, suddendly, for no apparent reason, the ctrl-c
ctrl-v start working as expected in the editors. So what? you may say,
well from that moment on many others key bindings, like ctrl-z, ctrl-a
etc. stop working and what is worst is that in Win Explorer windows and
any other app already active or started after that, all the keyboard
shortcuts (ctrl-c, ctrl-v, ctrl-a, ctrl-s etc.) stop working too. The only
way to recover is to reboot.
With jvm 1.4.2_01 and 1.4.2_02 instead the only editor that initially
needs the double ctrl-c is the BlackSun Make editor but after a while i
work, the outcome is the same. Reboot.
With 3.0 M4 and M5, which i use for java projects, with any jvm, instead i
don't have any initial bad beahviour with internal editors (i don't use
there the BlackSun Make editor) but again after a while i'm working i
loose keyboard shortcuts system wide and i have to reboot.
Before someone may ask, yes i changed keyboard, mouse and even tryed on a
new freshly installed PC.
Please, please help me track down this problem.
Thanks, Gabriele.
