I just started exploring Eclipse for real in the last few days, so I
apologize if I've made some basic mistakes.

I'm trying to install the WTP in my Eclipse 3.1.1 distribution on my XP
box. I'm looking at getting version 1.0M8. The installation
prerequisites leave me with a couple of questions.

It first says that it used the Linux Eclipse 3.1 distro. Is it reasonable
to assume that the Windows Eclipse 3.1.1 distro would work for this?

Then, for the GEF, EMF, and EMF Model drivers (whatever those are), it
lists the SDK distros. In the downloads area for these, they all list the
SDK distros and the runtime distros. Do I really need to install the SDK
distros, or will the runtime distros work?

I understand that these prequisites clearly state these are what were used
to BUILD the WTP, but it would be nice if it would clearly spell out what
a normal user needs to get to just INSTALL what was built.

Hi David,

you need only the *runtime* versions of GEF, EMF, XSD und JEM (from the
VisualEdit subproject). No SDKs needed.

Best regards

Wolfgang

Yes. Absolutely.

As Wolfgang replied, you can use the runtime versions.

A valid suggestion. I've opened bug 117796 to track it.
