I'm using eclipse 3.1 together with webtools 0.7.1 (Update function of
eclipse) under Debian. I have also installed the tomcat5 Debian package.
Tomcat works OK as I was able to deploy my web application war manually.
Now I want to develop using Eclipse and webtools and thus want to deply
directly to tomcat.
I have created a dynamic web project and added a simple test jsp to the
WEB-INF directory. I have also create a server project entry for tomcat 5.
1. When I now choose Run As... I first get an error that tomcat cannot
be started. It seems like I have to add aditional *.jar in
/usr/share/tomcat5/bin to the classpath. After that tomcat can be started.
2. However my application doe snot get deployed. It looks like
${workspace}/.metadata...tmp0/webapps contains only an empty
ROOT/WEB-INF directory - but nothing else. The content of .deployables
doe snot get copied. I exported my application as *.war and deployed it
manually to .metadata so this in priciple works.
What is missing, that Eclipse does not automcatically populate the
deployment directory?
