I had originally posted on Eclipse.newcomer, before realizing it was a
better fit on .webtools:

I've been searching both the Eclipse help and the web to no avail,
searching for information on if and how I can deploy my webapp directly
from eclipse to my production server. Right now I export in .jar and
..war format, then use batch scripts to deploy to those to the server.

I would love to be able to go directly to the production server to save
steps. Is there a doc somewhere which explains how to do this? If it
matters, I'm using SilverStream 3.7.5 for one server, and Tomcat 5.5.9
as another. They are on different physicial machines.

Hello David...

Basically, right now WTP doe snot have remote server deployment features.

Wait! However, that feature is thought to be deferred until the WTP1.0 release in December..

So keep using your batch scripts for now but You should soon be able to see some directiosn on how to do remote when WTP1.0 come sout in mid December..
