Hi,
While this newsgroup has never been used very much, it seems with the newly
founded EFP (Eclipse Financial Platform) both this group and OFMP are
supposed to dissolve into that new project...
Hope, there's going to be more constructive work going on in the new
project.

While waiting to plug OFMP into the FP architecture, I've committed
current state of the project to a googlecode project like FP :
http://code.google.com/p/ofmp/

Looks interesting.
However, for Currency exchange I would not reinvent the "wheel" for the 3rd
time ;-)
1) you got a somewhat inept try in java.util.Currency (even some people
involved in it agree, it could be better ;-)
2) you got a better approach automatically within Eclipse as ICU4J is
mandatory and a core component of it (even on Android it is present,
although this is otherwise not using Eclipse a lot)
And then you got your 3rd implementation.
Cards are all mixed new with EFP as it seems (no such code in SVN there) but
if it is meant to be more succesful than OFMP, something so basic like
Currency/Money and some models around it should clearly be reusable at least
among other Eclipse projects. As a dedicated EFP subproject. With a little
help from the JCP similar to EclipseLink this may even be an acceptable RI
for a JSR.
How does that sound?
I have spread the word with many teams and people involved in either ICU,
JCP or Eclipse. Many agree, this could become a better implementation than
that tiny bit the JDK offers now.

Hi Werner,
We hope too the EFP project will be a greater success regarding
collaboration between all parties involved.
What's the procedure regarding the OFMP project, should it be set to the
archived status ?

I believe so, unless there are standard procedures in Eclipse to turn a top
level project into a sub-project.
In that case, your proposed collaboration with EFP could allow that,
assuming the EFP propsal gets accepted of course...
