Hi,

I am new to Eclipse environment. I am trying to install Eclipse SDK
3.1.2 on Redhat Linux 6.2. From the eclipse project plan site, I came to
know that the supported operating environments starts with RH Linux 8.0.
But for my requirments, I need to have eclipse on Redhat Linux 6.2 (Kernal
version 2.2.24)
Even though I installed eclipse & Java 1.4 successfully on my machine,
when I am starting the eclipse, I am getting the following errors.

./eclipse: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.2' not found (required by
/eclipse)

From the internet I came to know that GLIBC 2.2 package is comes with RH
Linux 7.0 onwards. When I was trying to update this GLIBC package on RH
Linux 6.2, i am not able to do the same.
Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks & Regards
Muthu

You ask for "any help", so I have to go with the obvious... you really
need to upgrade your Linux environment. I've felt limited by trying to
keep Eclipse TPTP working on RH 7.2 ... I can't even imagine trying to
go back to 6.2! For those of you in Windows land, this is somewhat
similar to an earlier thread where someone was failing to get things
working on their WinME and Win95 boxes.

Can you really not upgrade the box from 6.2?

I'm not sure what the glibc2.2 dependencies are, but I strongly doubt
you're going to be able to force fit it that far back ... too old a
kernel amongst other things.

Sorry,
