I am pleased to announce availability of our first formal release, version 0.7,
of Eclipse Web Tools Platform.

It may be downloaded from
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/downloads/drops/R-0.7-2 00507290654/

Information about the project in general can be found at
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/main.html

On behalf of the PMC and committers, I'd like to say we are both
proud and excited to provide this release, and we all are
looking forward to the next phase of the project. So, use well,
provide feedback, and contribute as you can ... and most important,
make some cool web apps.

David,
The all-in-one download is really great for anyone who has not been pulling
the individual prerequsites. Can we depend on having an all-in-one
distribution for all future WTP releases?

Michael

Congratulations to the Eclipse WTP Team! All the hard work and long hours
that you have put in are greatly appreciated! I hope that you all can get
a little rest before continuing with the next phase ...

"May you receive all you desire or something better".

No guarantees .. but that or something better is the
intent. The current all-in-one has some SDK mixed in,
in future, we may make "pure runtime" version (to keep size
smaller). Also, I was just wondering today if we should
not include "PDE". Technically, no reason to for pure web development.

Long term, I hope update manager will work well enough
that installing base Eclipse, and a "one click update"
would accomplish the same. The "user selected components"
via update manager is the long term direction.

a "one click upate" would be very fantastic. i'd love to grab the base
eclipse install, and just go to the update manager, and have it grab wtp,
then find all deps.

If you are taking votes, I would vote FOR including PDE mostly because I
really like the idea of getting everything I need in a single package.
However, an update manager that allows us to install a minimal eclipse, then
select the additional features from a list would be a good alternative.
