Guyen,

If java 1.4.1 or later is on your path, you can simply gunzip and run
eclipse. Otherwise you can run "eclipse -vm /path/to/java" to point it
at a specific Java vm to use.

is there way to know if ther JRE is installed on my machine.
I ran the rpm -i for JRE but after a while it says nothing about whether
the JRE is siccessully or unsuccesfully installed, and doesn't say where
it is copying the files. i got no clue what is going on
