Hello everyone,
I just installed Eclipse on SuSE Linux 10 from the available rpms. I am past
the need to be root to get updates and different packages and am trying to
specify the default server to use for deploying my web applications and it
is Tomcat 5.0.
I follow these steps:
1. Open Eclipse :).
2. Window > Preferences > Server > Installed Runtime > Apache > Tomcat 5.0.
3. On the next screen I browse for the Tomcat installation directory which
is /usr/share/tomcat5, but I get an error:
"The Tomcat installation directory is not correct. It does not point to a
valid Tomcat installation."
I thought this has again to do with permissions so (you sysadmins out there
close your eyes):
1. I changed the group permissions on /usr/share/tomcat5 to my user and
group - Not successful still got the error.
2. I tried the /srv/www/tomcat5 directory with the same changes and selected
it as the install directory - still got the same message.
Can some one point me to what this message means....what is the right format
what is missing. Google did not lead to a successful hit on this.
Thanks very much.
george
