Legal issues [message #113993] Thu, 22 December 2005 17:29 Go to next message

Hi

I still try to create a Debian package fro VE, but I got some legal
concerns.

The VE plugins seems to include the plugin com.ibm.etools.emf.event,
which doesn't come with the source code. What is the status of
this plugin, still closed source? Is this plugin necessary?

I would appreciate if you can clarify this for me?

Thank you, Stephan Michels.

Stephan,

I'm sorry, but the person who knows about this plug-in is on vacation
now. He should be back to provide an answer to your question next week.

That is still being used. The .override files in VE 1.1.x are written in
the format that the plugin provides. We are working on getting rid of it
but for compatibility reasons it will still be around in VE 1.2, even
though we are recommending users to migrate to the new supported EMF
ChangeRecord format. You can take a redistribute as is since it is under
the EPL.

Thank you for the information.

Is the source code of this plugin somewhere available? The source code is
necessary even if the code is under the EPL. It must be ensured that you
can look into the code at anytime for security reasons etc.
