Can't extend the CDT [message #100596] Wed, 21 April 2004 14:46 Go to next message

Hi all,

I'm using Eclipse 3 M8 and CDT 2.0 M8, and I'd like to extend the CDT
using its extension points. The problem is that Eclipse can't find CDT
plugins when I create a new plugin project. I checked in Eclipse
preferences (Plugin Development --> Target Platform), but even if I reload
the list of plugins, the CDT plugins still don't appear.

What's the problem with CDT 2.0 ? I tried with Eclipse 2.1.3 and CDT 1.2,
and this works fine!

Am I missing something?

Thanks a lot for your help!
Fabrice.

I'm experiencing the same problem (using CDT 2.0 M8), but only on Linux.
Works fine on
Windows, but that's not where I need it.

I on the other hand had the same problem on Windows. For example, the
Provider and Plug-in columns in About Eclipse Platform | Plug-in
Details were empty. However, removing the CDT (and the corresponding
entries in workspace .metadata) and reinstalling it remedied the
problem.

I've seen this before, too, but not currently. I have two Linux boxes
exhibiting the problem described in the original post, but the "About"
information shows up correctly on both boxes.

My statement that this is not a problem on Windows was wrong! My Windows
system was running Eclipse 3.0 M7 with CDT 2.0 M7. After upgrading the
Windows system to M8, I'm seeing the problem on that platform, too. This
problem has several manifestations. The quickest way to see whether or not
you are experiencing the problem is open the PDE perspective and click on
the "Plug-ins" view. If things are working correctly, you should see all of
the CDT-related plug-ins in the list. I'm not seeing any of them, on either
Windows or Linux.
