I'd like to introduce myself and offer apologies for the slow start to
this project.
I am an architect and development manager on WebSphere Studio which as
you all know is based on eclipse. I work in the areas of Web services,
XML, and data access tools. Previously I was an architect for VisualAge
for Java, working on servlets and JSP.
We in WebSphere Studio land are very supportive of this project and want
to get working on it asap. But we also strongly believe that it is in
the best long term interests of the Java development community to have
other vendors participate. The eclipse organization is actively seeking
the participation of other vendors, so we'll all have to be patient for
a little longer. However, I do expect this issue to get resolved soon
and am looking forward to working with you all. It would be very
discouraging if no one was griping about the delay!
In the area of Web services, we have made a start. As John Wiegand
mentioned in a previous post, we worked around the delay in getting this
project going by creating a new technology project, the Web Services
Validation Tools (WSVT) project: http://www.eclipse.org/wsvt/
The purpose of the WSVT project is to develop Open Source
implementations of tools that support Web services standards and the Web
Services Interoperability Organisation Profiles: http://ws-i.org/
The contributors to the WS-I Basic Profile 1.0 (Parasoft, Beacon IT, and
IBM) seeded the WSVT project with their Java implementations of BP 1.0
and plug-ins that integrate these tools into eclipse. FYI, this code is
included in WebSphere Studio 5.1.
I am also a member of the W3C Working Group on Web Services Description,
which is producing the next version of WSDL:
http://www.w3.org/2002/ws/desc/
As a next step in the WSVT project, we'd plan to create a WSDL 1.2
validator. I encourage anyone who is interested in this work to
participate in the WSVT project. I expect the WSVT project to be merged
into the Web Tools project after it gets going.

Hi, all.
I support this opinion. Any eclipse or IBM insider is a welcome participator
in this group.
Project can't move without support at all. At least CVS and some bug
tracking software is required.
