Hi,

I'm interested in using Higgins in a web application to identify users.
More specifically, I'm looking for a SSO authentication API first. Users
should be able to login using OpenID and other mechanisms (SP). In a
second step I also want to integrate IdP functionality into my system
(SAML2).

I was playing with the available Higgins demo referenced here:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/Extensible_Protocol_RP_Website_1.0

https://higgins.eclipse.org/RelyingPartyDemoApp/

However, I'm having trouble installing the plug-in in Firefox 3.0. Is
there any update for Firefox 3.0 available? Should the plug-in be made
officially available on the Firefox Add Ons site so that it would be
easier for people to install?

On a different topic, will there also be support for IE?

-Gunnar

The fact, that this Newsgroup has only about half a dozen postings over the
last 12 months (!) makes the bitter impression, that Higgins may have died
or be caught in a "mousetrap" for a while now?;-/

@Gunnar: I believe you also attended the Higgins talk last year at ESE? The
statement there, Higgins was unable to handle any REAL ID card such as
Banking or E-Government Cards issued more and more around the world was an
additional drawback for this otherwise well-meant ambitious concept.

Setting the standards we tend to apply for project status in the JCP
nowadays, I guess Higgins may be among the "inactive" ones...

The Higgins project has fallen into a habit of only paying attention to the higgin-dev mailling list. And this is why you have the impression that the project is inactive. I'm kicking off a thread on higgins-dev to discuss how we should handle this better.

As for integration with smart cards, that is something that is being actively worked on by Gemalto developers for Higgins 1.1 for a large scale Higgins deployment in France. We hope they are going to contribute the drivers, etc. back to Higgins.
