Hi!

I work for a small/medium company that tries to push RCP apps up here in
Switzerland. I already worked on several rcp clients for the last 3 year s
and I (me and my company) am currently looking for a framework that speeds
up the development of rcp apps (and possibly the server side, too). I
experienced several developments of that kind in the projects I was
involved (swiss rail, postfinance) and I think that there's a great waste
of resources in all those developments.
We now try to find a project where we can help to build such a platform.
RCML is a component that looks very much like a first component to such a
RAD platform and I hoped several other components in OFMP could be of
great use in non-financial applications, too.

Thanks for your replies!
André

Hi André,

Thanks for your interest and post.
Since you mentioned the Swiss Post Finance, they have contributed to
another Eclipse project, Babel. While this primarily aims to help you
with translation and i18n of your RCP apps, maybe you might consider
also to both use and contribute to it where appropriate?

Hi Werner

Good idea! I still work there but I'm not directly involved in those
efforts but I'll check with postfinance and my company.
Iternationalisation is crucial down here in Switzerland (3 languages:
german, french, italian).

Greetings
André

I already saw some early presentations on http://www.rcml.net when it
was started and I was happy to see that it still lives when it popped up
in the ofmp proposal. RCML is a solution to what I think is necessar in
order to speed up GUI creation.
Furthermore there are several parts in your framework (Acegi security,
Spring integration, BIRT reporting, etc.) that sound very similar to
what my company developed for swiss rail (project UNO) and I look
forward to the inital code contributions to see if we could contribute
to all those generic application parts.

Greetings
André

Sounds great! We will work hard on expected IP issues with external third
party libraries to commit as much as possible to Eclipse CVS quickly.
