VE perspective not showing up [message #85122] Sun, 10 July 2005 04:08 Go to next message

I just upgraded to Eclipse 3.1 and installed the Visual Editor plugin
v1.1M2. My operating system is Windows XP SP2. For some reason I can't
see the Visual Editor perspective when I click Window > Open Perspective >
Other. But I can see the preferences options in my Preferences window.
Any ideas why I can't see the perspective?

Stephen,

The Visual Editor does not have it's own perspective - it functions in
the Java or Java Browsing perspective. Simply create a new Visual Class
or use Open With->Visual Editor on a Java class. You should also try
using the latest VE integration build with Eclipse 3.1 rather than M2,
because there were a few incompatibilities with Eclipse right at the end
that don't work with M2. The final release of VE 1.1 will be out in a
couple weeks.

Hope this helps,
- Jeff

Thanks Jeff,

I tried using the Open With -> Visual Editor approach and got the
preview window, but nothing else. I monkeyed around with it a bit more
and decided to try uninstalling the version of VE I had installed and
made sure I had the right EMF and GMF versions for the latest
integration build installed. After that I downloaded and installed the
latest integration build for VE and it works like a champ.

Thanks Again,
Stephen
