Hi
I'm currently running 3.1RC1 and would like to update it to the new
I20050609 build, but I'm a bit unsure whether it's save to just overwrite
the RC1 version?
Is it perfectly save to just overwrite it?
Also, should I always start eclipse with -clean after copying new
builds/features/plugins into the eclipse dir?
Is there a list of -xxxxx startup commands explaning what they exactly do?
Regards
veccie

What I usually do is install the new Eclipse build into a new directory
(rather than putting Eclipse at c:\eclipse, I put it at
c:\eclipse3.1RC1\eclipse, c:\eclipse_N20050609\eclipse, and so forth); wait
until I'm sure I'm happy with the new one; and then delete the old one.
There is no problem with having multiple Eclipse installs on a machine. I
have avoided running multiple different versions at the same time, though,
mostly for my own sanity.

Yeah, well up until now I have also used several dirs for my eclipse builds,
but I'm getting a bit tired of going through the installation all over again
each time... plugins, importing settings, templates etc.
I just want to fix the bugs, hehe :)

Heh, I'm not used to using eclipse just yet, although I have been using
shared project dirs.
But I guess I'll have to kick myself and start using all its features :)

Ok, I've just installed the new RC2 in a new dir... That "add external
location" you're talking about, I believe you mean "add extention location"
? I just don't have any .eclipseextention files :(
So, hmm I can't really see how to do this other than copying the plugins
manually
