Eclipse / CVS Share Project - Import Module has no Effect (using CVSNT) [message #75870] Thu, 09 June 2005 05:00

I work on Windows XP, Eclipse 3.0, and CVSNT (and also WinCVS for
independent verification).

I'm using the Eclipse "CVS Repository Exploring" perspective. To get a
project from Eclipse into a CVS server, I highlight the project in
Navigator the navigator view and then use right mouse click->Team->Share
Project.

"Team->Share Project" allows me to add a the project / module, and then
announces that "the resources of the project are in sync with the repository".
However, no transcript of CVS commands whatsoever appears in the Eclipse
(CVS) console, nor are there any error messages or warnings, and, worse,
the new module/project never appears in the CVS repository.

Consequently, there is no right mouse->Team->Commit, Update, Branch, and
all the other options that are supposed to be there. Only "Team->Apply
Patch" and "Team->Share Project".

I'm using CVSNT as my CVS server, and I have independenty with WinCVS
verified that the CVSNT works fine. If I import a project / module into
CVSNT with WinCVS, then I can see it with Eclipse and everything with that
module works fine from Eclipse.

I guess WinCVS does give me a work-around for the problem, but this is not
very satisfactory. I want to be able to use Eclipse for work with my
CVSNT repository without another package (in other words without WinCVS).

Could anyone on this group could give me some advice on why Eclipse might
have the problem I describe above? Alternatively, if this is not the
right group, can you recommend where to post this question?

Thanks,
