Hi,

Earlier this year we announced we'll be delivering a new version of PDT.

The main issues we wanted to address in this version were performance
issues.

Naturally, we assumed that investing this amount of effort in improving
the performance will enforce us to invest less time in new features and
that was the reason for naming this version 1.1.

As you probably know, in order improve our performance on the one hand
and increase cooperation between Eclipse projects on the other, we have
decided to base our infrastructure on DLTK project.

This step had forced us to break PDT's API as these two APIs (PDT1.0 and
the new one) cannot co-exist.

According to the Eclipse rules API change forces change in the version's
number major segment, hence the upcoming version will be called 2.0.

Currently there is no change in schedule, the version will be released
in September as planned.

Guy Gurfinkel,

Group Leader, Development Tools, Zend.

PDT Project Leader.

Does this means that WTP is abandoned in favor of DLTK, or can they
coexist?

WTP is still used for DOM purpose.

These are pages that describe what are the components of WTP and DLTK
that we reuse in PDT:
