Branding Eclipse [message #61923] Wed, 04 June 2003 08:16 Go to next message

Hello!

I'm trying to find software for our company to develop crossplatform GUI
applications. Eclipse looks interesting alternative. But now I'm wondering
how to brand the platform. There is a article Creating Product Branding on
the website, but it's quite old and doesn't deal with e.g. Menus and
Toolbars.

I want to know how to remove unnecessary Menus and/or toolbars. How to find
them from sources, etc? I'm a little bit familiar with NetBeans and I know
how to do it in there.

Any tips or articles where to find some further information?

Thanks in advance!

For 3.0, we are working on something call Rich Client Platform that will
allow you to do that (see plan at eclipse web site). You can also search
bugzilla and this newsgroup (and maybe the eclipse wiki site) - others have
"hack" eclipse to accomplish this.

Simon :-)

Look at the post with title: "Application Branding Example" in this news
group.

Keep in mind that there is no current way to remove all the menus short
of hacking them out.

My approach however, is going to just use the bootloader, and write my
own top-level window.
