Week Interval - Bug or Feature? [message #55343] Fri, 08 July 2005 18:28 Go to next message

Creating a group with a 1 week interval, I expected it to be based on 'true'
weeks rather based on arbitrary start points.
For example, the user inputs a start date and an end date for the report...

--If the user puts in 6/10/05-7/10/05, then BIRT will group weeks as
6/10/05,6/17/05,6/24/05

I'm using 1.01 M1

Oops... accidentally sent that before it was done. So here it is again...

Creating a group with a 1 week interval, I expected it to be based on 'true'
weeks rather than arbitrary start points.
For example, the user inputs a start date and an end date for the report...

--If the user puts in 6/10/05-7/1/05, then BIRT will group weeks as
6/10/05,6/17/05,6/24/05...
--If the user puts in 6/11/05-7/1/05, then BIRT will group weeks as
6/11/05,6/18/05,6/25/05...

So in other words, BIRT seems to simply take the start date and increment it
by 7 days... regardless what day of the week they fall on.
However, it does seem to work as I would expect for the month interval.
It'll group on month beginnings where it can.

I'm using 1.01 M1

So is this a bug, or is it intentional?

Could you log a bugzilla entry on the behavior you expect? Group by
"week" and group by 7days on a date fields should be handled differently, I
think what you see is a bug for grouping by "week".
