This is just an additional answer for those of you haveing trouble
installing
VE 1.0m2. For those of you who have tried to install VE over and over
again to find out that eclipse is not seeing the plugins you might want to
check to see if the plugins are disable (as was the case with me). to do
this go to:
Help-software updates-Manage and configure.
once the product configuration window is open check to see if the three
plugins you downloaded(emf, gef and VE) are on the list. If not, click the
icon that says "show disabled features"(it will show as a tooltip). Now if
all the plugins were installed correctly, you might see that all the
plugins you recenltly downloaded were disabled. No problem, right click on
them and click "enable". You will then need to restart and the plugins
should be functional. Then follow whatever tutorial you tried to do to
create your first gui.
Hopes this helps anyone out there.

Hi Eric,
I have serious trouble getting VE to work, so I followed your advice and
checked this configuration tool: I didn't discover any disabled features,
but I DID discover a misconfiguration of the Graphical Editing Framework
SDK I doanloaded before the VE:
in Properties/Status it says:
"Graphical Editing Framework SDK
Reason:
Included feature "Graphical Editing Framework" version "3.0.0" contains
problems.
Included feature "Graphical Editing Framework Developer Resources" version
"3.0.0" contains problems."
I actually didn't configure anything... any idea how to fix this ?
I mean do I just re-unzip the GEF into the eclipse directory ? or do I
have to "uninstall" (i.e. delete the correesponding directories) the VE
first ?
Thanks for any advice you have.

- Is there anything listed in the .log file?
- Did it say what the problems were?
- Try starting with -clean option once to clear and recreate the
configuration.
- Erase the GEF features and plugins, make sure you have GEF R3.0 and
unzip again, then start once with the -clean

hey andi:
You should try what rich said first and if that does not work try this.
try unzipping the gef zip file into a temporary directory. You should get
to folders. One that says features and one that says plugins. Copy the
contents of the feature folder of into the features folder in your eclipse
directory, and copy the contents of the temporary gef plugins folder into
the plugin folder of the ecilpse directory. Your computer should tell you
that thoses files already exist and do you want to overwrite them. click
yes. restart eclipse and check to see you are still getting the same
errors. Let me know your results.
